Tennis court, beach, and orangery. How an ancient park of the Rdultovskys' estate near Nesvizh is planned to be transformed
The Rdultovsky estate in the agro-town of Snov remained one of the most secluded estates in the Nesvizh district for many years. A military hospital was located in the 19th-century palace and park complex, so outsiders were not allowed on the territory. But after the transition to a private investor, the matter finally came to large-scale changes in the surrounding park. The publication Domovita.by looked at how the ancient estate will change.
A message appeared on the website of the Nesvizh District Executive Committee regarding public discussions of the management plan for this green zone for the next 10 years. Judging by the schemes, instead of thickets around the palace, a beautiful recreation area with a beach, tennis court, and its own orangery will appear.
From a closed territory to a tourist center
The palace and park ensemble in Snov appeared in the 1820s thanks to Kazimierz Rdultovsky, the owner of these lands. According to the project of architect Branislaw Tychetsky, one of the largest classical palaces in Belarus was erected here, and a spacious landscape park was laid out around it. The main pride of the estate was a complex water system on the Snovka River: with a network of canals, ponds, and two artificial islands, connected by ornate pedestrian bridges.
After all the upheavals of the 20th century, the palace changed its status and for many years became a closed military hospital. Behind the solid perimeter and checkpoint, the ancient alleys with centuries-old ash and maple trees gradually became wild, although as early as 1987, the park with an area of 10.52 hectares was officially recognized as a botanical natural monument of local significance. The complex itself was included in the list of historical and cultural values, but ordinary travelers could only see the palace from afar.
The turning point came after the abandoned estate was bought by a private investor — "First Company Blagodarava E.A." At the end of 2025, the Nesvizh District Executive Committee transferred the management of the entire park complex to the firm.
To put the green zone in order and open it to tourists, it was necessary to define the regulations for all future works. For this purpose, scientists from the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus prepared a detailed ten-year development plan for the territory, which was put up for public discussion a few days ago.
Courts, beach, and capital orangery
According to specialists' calculations, about 45 ares will be used for new buildings, playgrounds, and paths. This is less than five percent of the territory, so almost the entire historic park will remain a quiet green zone for walks. Work will only unfold on abandoned clearings and near the pond shore, where the main recreation areas will be equipped.
Several new locations are planned to be equipped on the vacant plots:
- a permanent orangery building with an area of 300 square meters;
- an enclosed tennis court of 500 square meters;
- a multi-functional sports ground of 500 square meters and a children's play area of 200 square meters;
- an organized sandy beach on the pond shore with an area of 200 square meters;
- a car parking lot designed for approximately 20 cars.
In addition to sports grounds, the development schemes include a green labyrinth, gazebos, a rotunda, pedestrian bridges, and wooden piers. The ancient water system of the estate with two artificial islands and a network of canals will be preserved: the ponds will be gradually cleared, and the shoreline will be strengthened.
New alleys, lighting, and access via checkpoint
The walking part of the park is planned to be fully adapted for comfortable recreation. Instead of broken paths, a network of alleys with different types of paving will appear:
- some central and landscape routes will be covered with granite and brick chips;
- main pedestrian zones and driveways will be paved with cobblestones;
- sports and play areas will be provided with rubber coating and artificial turf.
Lanterns will be installed along the main alleys, and necessary communications—water supply, sewerage, heating main, and gas supply—will be hidden underground.
The condition of old ash and linden trees will continue to be monitored, removing only emergency branches and dry trunks. The parterre in front of the main facade will be supplemented with lawns and hedges, and a new fruit orchard will be laid out in the free areas.
According to ecologists' calculations, the renovated park will be able to accommodate up to 4080 people per day. Access to the territory currently remains strictly through the checkpoint building. At the same time, the managing company reserves the right to temporarily restrict entry if the environmental load proves to be too high.
