Belarusian Mikhail offered everyone interested to freely pick potatoes on his plot in the Kletsk district. There turned out to be so many that the owner no longer had enough storage space, writes Blizko.by.
Mikhail wrote on Threads that one can come to the agro-town of Domatkanavichy and pick as many potatoes as needed. It's approximately an hour and forty minutes drive from Minsk to him.
The man explained that he had already stocked up on potatoes for about two winters, so there was no room left for the new harvest. He also didn't have time to dig a pit or make a clamp for storage. The photos showed that the plot was already plowed, and the potatoes only needed to be gathered by hand.
The announcement generated great interest. Many Belarusians thanked Mikhail for deciding to share the harvest, and regretted that they were too far away to come. Some noted that the potatoes had grown large and beautiful, and called the owner a kind person.
However, there were also those who didn't understand why the man simply didn't put the potatoes in a clamp for storage. In the comments, people began to explain the traditional method of storing the harvest — in a pit lined with film and straw, which is also covered with soil from above.
Others, in response, noted that the owner was not asking for advice but offering people to take potatoes for free, so everyone could decide for themselves what to do with the harvest. And one woman even asked for the potatoes to be brought to Minsk, explaining that she has three children and couldn't come herself.
As a result, by the next day, all of Mikhail's potatoes were taken. His post on Threads garnered over 180,000 views during this time.
