Lithuania Stripped of World Cup Stage for Refusing to Admit Belarusians and Russians
The International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM) stripped Lithuania of the right to host a World Cup stage. The competitions were supposed to take place in Kaunas from April 13 to 17, 2027.

The reason for the decision was the restrictions in place in Lithuania regarding Belarusian and Russian athletes. The Lithuanian side continues to refuse to admit them to competitions on its territory.
Justinas Kinderis, President of the Lithuanian Modern Pentathlon Federation, stated that initially, this news caused him anger and disappointment, as preparations had already begun and agreements with service providers had been concluded. However, he admitted that such a development was not entirely unexpected: the UIPM leadership had repeatedly asked the Lithuanian side how it planned to resolve the issue of participation for Russian and Belarusian athletes.
Kinderis expressed regret that Lithuania's long-standing experience in organizing championships and winning medals did not, in his opinion, receive adequate understanding. He noted that the federation had hoped for a more respectful attitude towards its position but did not encounter understanding.
