Near Gomel, a fox caught in a trap was rescued, and the next day, the man who set the traps was apprehended. The incident occurred in a zone where hunting is prohibited. Witnesses reported the traps, one of which caught a red fox, to inspectors from the Gomel Regional Inspectorate for Wildlife and Plant Protection.

Specialists, along with a gamekeeper, arrived at the scene. They freed the animal from the trap and released it into the wild.
After this, inspectors decided to find out who had set the traps in the prohibited hunting zone. They organized covert surveillance. The very next day, the man who, according to the inspectorate's information, had set them, returned to the traps. He was apprehended on the spot.
The question of initiating a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of Belarus — for illegal hunting — is now being decided.
