In Scotland, a family found their cat Pandora, who disappeared during a car accident six years ago. A microchip helped return the animal to its owners, writes the BBC.
Billy and Mary adopted Pandora and her sister Ziggy as kittens in 2017. The cat went missing when the family was moving from England to Scotland and got into an accident. Pandora's carrier was thrown from the car, after which the animal fled.
The owners tried to find her immediately after the accident, but Billy needed rest and recovery after the road incident, so the family was forced to continue their journey. After relocating, they resumed their search: they returned to the accident site with their daughter and grandson and posted messages in local social media groups. Some people said they had seen Pandora, but no one managed to catch her.
And now, six years later, on Mary's 62nd birthday, she received a call from a charity organization informing her that her long-lost cat had finally been found. Mary called the call the biggest and most pleasant birthday surprise. A few days later, the family took Pandora home.
It turned out that the cat was noticed after she regularly tried to get into a stranger's house. Volunteer Fiona Morrison arrived at the scene and saw the animal, which looked like a stray. Thanks to the microchip, the owners' contact details were obtained.
After returning home, Pandora immediately began to respond to her name. She also maintained a special bond with the owners' grandson. Mary believes this may be because the cat often lay on her daughter's belly during her pregnancy.
The family continues to keep in touch with the woman who helped find Pandora and urges pet owners to microchip their cats.
For volunteer Fiona Morrison, Pandora's reunion with her family was one of the most memorable moments in her 26 years of work. According to her, everyone cried during the meeting, so touching was the moment.
