Russian army enthusiast, daughter travels in Europe. Six facts about General Muraveika, appointed to Lukashenka's Administration
He stated that Belarus has the right to "cut a corridor into Lithuania by force of arms" and considers the Russian army "the most powerful in the world." What is known about 55-year-old Pavel Muraveika, who was transferred from the position of Chief of the General Staff to Lukashenka's Administration?

Was Lukashenka's confidant in elections
Redirecting Muraveika to the Administration, Lukashenka noted that he himself proposed his candidacy and wants to have an alternative point of view on the situation in the security forces.
Muraveika was Lukashenka's confidant during the last election campaign.
"This is important, but it's not the main thing," Lukashenka seemed to justify. "If someone says he's almost the president's own brother, they're mistaken, because I practically didn't even know you before the Chief of General Staff position."

Supporter of the "Russian world"
55-year-old Muraveika hails from Maryina Horka. In 1992, he graduated from the Minsk Higher Military-Political Combined Arms School. Afterwards, he enrolled in the Minsk Military Academy, graduating in 2001. A few years later, he studied in Russia at the Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Federation. He graduated in 2008 with a gold medal.
In 2019, Muraveika, already as Deputy Chief of the Belarusian General Staff and with the rank of Major General, was awarded the Russian Order of Friendship. Muraveika then stated that he was "confident that no problems or speculations can disrupt the strategic partnership between Russia and Belarus."
According to politician Pavel Latushka, Muraveika is one of the clear representatives of the "Russian world" in the Belarusian security and military bloc.
Muraveika himself praised the Russian army as "the most powerful in the world."
One former military officer characterized Muraveika as follows. He suggests that Belarusian officers can be divided into three categories. The first are patriots of the Motherland and thoughtful people; the second are those who serve because there is no alternative but do not do anything extra and adhere to the law.
And the third category is the "Karpyankov psychotype," workaholics who are ready to do anything to make a career and please their superiors. "Muraveika, perhaps, would be number one on the list of officers of the third category," believes the former serviceman.
Daughter is a fan of traveling in Europe
Muraveika is married to Alena, an educational psychologist who, according to the latest available information in the "Belpol" databases, worked in her specialty in the administration of the Partyzanski district of Minsk.
The Major General has a 26-year-old daughter, Viktoryia, who graduated from BSU. It is known that she loves to travel in Europe. Presumably, the girl teaches or taught French.

Accused Belarusians of "insufficient patriotism"
As Muraveika believes, military leaders overlooked the decline of patriotism in society — which is why, among other things, the events of 2020 occurred. And if the security forces had not protected the country, it would have been much worse.
"We are witnessing how cosmopolitan views are implanted in the minds of Belarusians. Considering themselves citizens of the world, some of our compatriots are ready to become people without a Homeland, refuse to defend it, leave the country, and break ties with their native land," he said. And to avoid this, according to the Major General, the country must have a strong state program of patriotic education for the population.
Muraveika also proposed in 2021 to develop a new program of "patriotization."
Threatened to cut a corridor to the sea through Lithuania and use nuclear weapons
In 2023, Muraveika threatened that Belarus could "cut a vital corridor" through Lithuania using weapons.
"Lithuania has effectively banned us from moving our goods across the border. According to all norms of international law, such a step falls under economic aggression. From the point of view of basic logic, we have every reason to cut through a vital corridor for us by force of arms," Muraveika stated in 2023.
After statements that Putin had transferred nuclear weapons to Belarus, the Major General threatened with them.
"We have learned to handle these weapons. We know how to use them confidently. We are capable of doing this, and you can have no doubt, we will do it if the sovereignty and independence of our country are threatened," he formulated in an interview on ONT.
Europe, according to Muraveika, dreams of revenge.
"The West is actually preparing for war. That's why a revanchist orientation is heard in the rhetoric of Western politicians, active measures are being taken to improve and develop armed forces, and modern weapons are being purchased."
"The situation around Belarus is now even more complex than it was in June 1941, on the eve of the war," commented Muraveika to journalists while serving as Chief of the General Staff.
"I want to say to those who are sharpening their teeth, preparing weapons, or planning to come and arrange a bloody slaughter here: the power bloc of Belarus is monolithic and represents the most powerful fist. Starting from the state border and ending with a district police officer in a small settlement," he addressed anyone who would want to "bend" Belarus.

Under sanctions
Since 2023, Muraveika has been on the EU sanctions list, where he was included along with other individuals responsible for military actions in Ukraine. He is also on the sanctions package of Ukraine and Canada, including for his statements. For example, Muraveika called the launch of "Oreshnik" on the Dnieper a "gesture of goodwill," and he defines Russia's war against Ukraine as a reaction to the need to protect the Russian-speaking population.
"The Russian people are such a calm, tolerant people, but one should not anger them and should not set conditions. Every provocation, inadequate action will be met with a response," he justified the actions of the Russian army in a conversation with propagandist Lyudmila Gladkaya.
