UAE Attorney General: FlyDubai Co-pilot Attacked Captain Using Emergency Axe

It is currently being investigated whether he acted in collusion with someone.

The co-pilot of the FlyDubai flight, which was flying to Tel Aviv, attacked the captain using an emergency axe from the cockpit and attempted to seize control of the aircraft during a "terrorist attack." This was stated by the UAE Attorney General, according to the state agency WAM, reports the BBC.

The co-pilot was identified as an Omani citizen named Hamam al-Hamami.

A diplomat from one of the Gulf countries told AP that an investigation is currently underway to determine whether he acted "alone or has any ties to extremist groups."
