In Belarus, there are increasingly more bank cards and fewer ATMs and info kiosks
The number of active bank cards in Belarus for the first half of 2026 exceeded 20.8 million. Since the beginning of 2025, their number has grown by approximately 1.5 million. Thus, on average, there are now more than two bank cards per inhabitant of the country, the National Bank of Belarus reported .

At the same time, Belarusians are using banking infrastructure for cash operations less and less frequently. The number of ATMs has been decreasing for almost a year now. The number of info kiosks has decreased even more significantly: as of July 1, 2026, there were 1424, whereas at the beginning of 2025 there were 1750.
Moreover, the number of payment terminals in retail has also been decreasing in Belarus for at least six months. At the beginning of 2026, there were more than 288.2 thousand, and half a year later — just over 287 thousand. Thus, in six months, their number decreased by almost 1.2 thousand.
These changes are occurring against the backdrop of expanding cashless payment methods — internet banking and mobile banking applications.
