Siarhei Tsikhanouski: They are drowning your husband, and you are like clapping your hands

Former political prisoner Siarhei Tsikhanouski held an almost five-hour stream on his YouTube channel. During his speech, he repeatedly mentioned his wife, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya.

First, Tsikhanouski mentioned Sviatlana's recent interview with Kanstantsin Kaveryn and Maryna Mentusava:

"Whoever hasn't seen this interview of Sviatlana Heorhiyieuna (...), watch it, because in this interview, I don't know what kind of PR person. Well, there's Krasulina — she's not a PR person, she's a nobody. She probably sent Sviatlana Heorhiyieuna there along with [Franak] Viachorka. It's simply awful (...). Watch this interview — you will understand that it was an absolute mistake to go there. Absolute.

For Sviatlana Heorhiyieuna, going to Belarusian media, or any media for that matter, is a mistake, in my opinion, but that one was simply a mistake of mistakes."

According to Tsikhanouski, his wife in that interview "couldn't answer a single question," and he adds:

"Not a single one — maybe she answered one silly question. Not a single one. It's awful."

He also mocked Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's alleged change of mind regarding the presidency:

"By the way, notice: Sviatlana Heorhiyieuna has started to support fantasies about becoming the president of Belarus. She already answers questions as a president, meaning 'I will be,' she says, 'president' already.

And before, she said she wouldn't run in the presidential elections if there were new elections in Belarus. The main thing was without Lukashenka. But now she has been convinced by these Viachorkas, all these guys, and Western partners (...), and she is slowly starting to go that way. Haven't you noticed? It's very funny."

He also disliked that the interview contained no questions about himself: "A scandal with her husband is ongoing (...). A scandal is ongoing — and not a single question about her husband."

Then Tsikhanouski explained why he speaks Russian on his streams:

"Little in Belarusian, friends. Yes, I speak 2% Belarusian. I understand that I should, but I want to be understood by those who speak Russian, and not only Belarusians. (...) Well, friends, this is my native language. I spoke Belarusian very well, believe me.

I spoke Belarusian more and better than Sviatlana Heorhiyieuna. But I am not an opportunist."

Towards the end of the broadcast, he mentioned his conflict with blogger Volha Takarchuk.

"And his wife, whom she calls her friend — she's actually not her friend at all — she also laughs (...). You see, she has such a position: not to speak in the media, not to comment in any way.

That is, they are drowning your husband, and you are like clapping your hands. And this is very strange, right? Well, not just strange — it says a lot."
