Something has happened at the Brest Regional Clinical Hospital. According to "Nasha Niva" information, security forces came for the management.
66-year-old Chief Doctor Alexander Karpitsky disappeared last week.
The medical institution confirms that Karpitsky is not at his workplace.
"You might not even be able to reach him in the near future," they say in the reception, while unable to name the reason for the chief doctor's absence.
Simultaneously, it appears his colleague Andrei Shastsiuk was also detained. He is also absent from his workplace.
According to the official version, "Andrei Mikhailovich is on sick leave." But it is unknown even approximately when he will be able to return to his duties.
Alexander Karpitsky is a true medical star in the Brest region. Honored Doctor of Belarus, author of 15 inventions, honorary citizen of the Brest region.
Karpitsky was born in 1960 into a family of medics. He graduated from the Vitebsk State Medical Institute. He worked as a surgeon at Kamenets Central District Hospital (1985-1987), was a junior research fellow at the Vitebsk Medical Institute (1987-1988). From 1998-2000, he headed the Department of Thoracic Surgery at the Vitebsk Regional Oncological Dispensary. Since 2000 - Chief Doctor of the Brest Regional Hospital.
It is believed that it was under his leadership that the volume and accessibility of minimally invasive and endoscopic interventions expanded here. For the first time in the region, Karpitsky himself performed plastic surgeries on the esophagus, replacing it with the stomach, gastric tube, large and small intestines. And in 2014, he performed the first pulmonary artery allotransplantation in Belarus.
In addition, Alexander Karpitsky is a member of the Council of the Republic from the Brest region. After the 2020 elections, he was included in the Black Book of Belarus for not extending contracts for young specialists due to political motives.
Andrei Shastsiuk, like his colleague, is a surgeon, candidate of medical sciences. He has performed about 200 operations per year and holds six patents.
There is no official confirmation of the doctors' arrest yet.
