In less than a day, a Belarusian woman made 170 thousand steps — she walked around the stadium near her home
Is this even possible? For Volha — yes. But mere mortals better not try to repeat it.

Minsk resident Volha Varabyova boasted on Threads that she challenged herself. Her goal was to walk 170 thousand steps in a day: "Initially, I was aiming for 24 hours of continuous walking, but my pace took over: I finished in just 23 hours and 6 minutes!"

Volha burned almost 7 thousand calories. If you're wondering how many kilometers that is, know this: 133.23 kilometers.
And, most surprisingly, the woman walked on a regular school stadium! She only occasionally went to the restroom or a shop.

Commentators asked why she walked in circles around the stadium when she could have walked half of Minsk. But Volha explains: it would have been more difficult because she had a rather heavy backpack with her (and it contained spare clothes, food, water, medicine).
If she had walked around the capital, she would have had to carry all of that on her back. This way, she was able to just leave it at the stadium and not worry about her belongings.

Of course, for an ordinary person, this is an unrealistic load. But Volha is far from an ordinary woman. She professionally engages in running and regularly participates in 24-hour races.
Last year, Volha set a national record for treadmill running — she spent 24 hours on it and ran 172 kilometers. She runs a marathon in 3 hours and 47 minutes.
And last year, the woman won the international ultramarathon "Self-Determination", which concluded in Moscow. In six days, the Belarusian runner covered 601 kilometers — an average of 100 kilometers per day.
But she wants to break the world record of Iryna Masanova, who ran 832.5 kilometers in six days.
Regarding the new experiment, Volha says she had several reasons for this challenge. The first was that in summer she often heard people discussing whether it was realistic to walk 150 thousand steps in a day. She became curious to try, but chose a higher bar.
The second was that the runner wanted to feel the difference between the impressions after a day of running and a day of walking. And the third – Volha has two 24-hour races ahead, so this is preparation for them.

Я вот если бегаю, то только за пивом в магаз, я ж не дурак просто так бегать. Обратно бегу уже с отягощением. Могу вам составить программу тренировок.
