New requirements are stipulated by a draft resolution of the Polish Ministry of Interior and Administration, MOST reports. The document is currently undergoing consultations.

Currently, foreigners arriving in Poland for a period of up to four days must have at least 300 zlotys (69 euros) or the equivalent in another currency. For a longer stay, at least 75 zlotys (17 euros) per day is required.

The draft proposes to increase these amounts:

for a trip lasting up to four days — to 1000 zlotys (229 euros);

for a longer trip — to 300 zlotys (69 euros) for each day.

If the costs of stay are paid by the host party or the person is arriving for a tourist event or sports competition, they will need to have at least 130 zlotys (30 euros) per day, but no less than 650 zlotys (149 euros) in total.

For those entering for studies or scientific research, the proposed minimum is 2020 zlotys (463 euros). Instead of proving the availability of money, a document confirming a scholarship can be presented.

A foreigner entering from a country bordering Poland will also need to have at least 200 zlotys (46 euros) for a return ticket or a pre-purchased ticket.

Proof of funds can be provided by a traveler's check, a bank statement about the credit card limit, or about money in a bank account in Poland or another European Union country.

The changes will not affect those entering with a residence permit, work visa, or a visa issued to the holder of a Pole's Card.

According to the draft, the resolution will come into force 30 days after being signed by the minister.
