Canada will not allow hockey players from Belarus and Russia to participate in the World Junior Championship
The World Junior Championship is scheduled to take place from late December to early January in the Canadian province of Alberta.

"As long as Russia and Belarus support this illegal, unjustified, and horrific war in Ukraine, and as long as it continues, athletes from these countries will not represent their national teams in Canada," stated Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, writes the BBC.
The World Junior Championship is scheduled to take place from late December to early January in the Canadian province of Alberta.
Earlier, Canada condemned last week's decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which allowed Russian athletes to participate in International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) competitions.
Earlier on Tuesday, the national ice hockey federations of Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Latvia, and the Czech Republic stated that they would refuse to play against the Russian national team at the men's World Ice Hockey Championship, which will be held in Germany next year.
Following the start of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, Russian and Belarusian hockey was under an international ban. The national teams were suspended from World Championships and Olympics.
In the summer, Belarusian youth and women's hockey was reinstated to international competitions, but the junior and national teams remained under sanctions at that time.
