Polish special services consider threat of assassination attempt on Tusk and Minister of Defense real
«The matter is extremely serious».
After an urgent meeting, a representative of the Polish special services stated a high probability of their realization.
Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesperson for the minister — coordinator of special services, reported on the threat assessment on October 11, writes Rzeczpospolita.
According to him, the State Protection Service initially received a message about a possible assassination attempt on Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. After an initial check, the information was passed to the police.
«We are talking about a high probability of these threats being carried out,» Dobrzyński stated.
He emphasized that the services take the message extremely seriously. Although threats sometimes turn out to be foolish jokes, in this case, they are evaluated differently.
The threats came via email. The police continue their investigation; details about the author of the letter and its content have not yet been disclosed.
On Sunday, an urgent meeting took place at the Anti-Terrorist Center of the Internal Security Agency, involving the police, the State Protection Service, and the agency.
According to the government press service, Tusk and Kosiniak-Kamysz learned about the threat around seven in the morning Polish time. They described the information as particularly alarming but noted that the Prime Minister is working in Warsaw as usual.
In connection with information from special services about a possible assassination attempt, a meeting of representatives of services subordinated to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration (the police, the State Protection Service, and employees of the Internal Security Agency) was convened on Sunday at 11:00 AM at the Anti-Terrorist Center of the Internal Security Agency.
