Ukraine for the first time struck a Yandex data center. Yandex.Disk is experiencing outages
The data center in the Ryazan region caught fire after a night drone attack and stopped working. Users report problems with accessing files and documents. Previously, Russia attacked Ukrainian data centers, and Volodymyr Zelenskyy promised a symmetrical response.

On the night of October 8, the Yandex data center in the city of Sasovo, Ryazan region, was hit. Monitoring channels reported the attack. This is the first time Yandex has been affected by a Ukrainian strike.
Initially, the company reported an "incident" and temporary unavailability of a number of services. Users complained about problems with Yandex.Disk and Yandex.Documents. Yandex Cloud also reported power outages for part of its infrastructure.
Later, the Yandex press service confirmed to RBC that the fire was caused by a drone attack. The data center's operations have been completely halted. Some services may be unavailable to users.
"There are no casualties, and relevant services are on site eliminating the consequences," the company stated.
The attack came after Russian strikes on Ukrainian data centers. In late September, Russian military forces attacked the Datagroup data center in Kyiv. The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that it processed and transmitted intelligence data for the Ukrainian army.
Zelenskyy previously stated that he had approved a plan for long-range strikes on Russia for October. According to him, Ukraine will respond to attacks against civilian infrastructure with strikes on corresponding Russian facilities.
The Yandex data center is located on the territory of the Sasta machine-tool building plant. The enterprise produces metal processing equipment and supplies it, among others, to the defense industry.
On the same night, the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat oil refinery in Bashkortostan was also hit, reported the Telegram channel Exilenova+. ASTRA, based on photos and videos from eyewitnesses, determined that a fire broke out in the area of the enterprise. The plant can process up to 10 million tons of hydrocarbon raw materials per year. It had previously been subjected to Ukrainian drone attacks.
