Russia may again deploy General Sergei Surovikin, known by the nickname "General Armageddon," to intensify pressure on Kyiv. This was reported by Bild, citing the British newspaper The Telegraph.

According to its data, Surovikin may lead a campaign of strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure, in particular on bridges across the Dnieper.

Previously, Surovikin gained notoriety for his harsh methods of warfare in Syria. Russian troops under his command participated in the siege and bombing of Aleppo.

Human rights activists accused Russian and Syrian forces of striking hospitals, schools, and residential areas, resulting in the deaths of thousands of civilians.

In 2022, Surovikin commanded Russian forces in Ukraine, and later became one of the defense chiefs. After Yevgeny Prigozhin's mutiny in June 2023, the general disappeared from public view.

According to media reports, he later engaged in Russian military operations in Africa. Now, British sources claim he could have returned to Moscow and once again received an important role in the war.

Particular attention, according to The Telegraph, may be given to the eight bridges across the Dnieper in Kyiv. Their destruction could disrupt transport links between parts of the city and complicate the supply of the multi-million strong capital.

The general's possible return comes against the backdrop of the slow advance of the Russian army in eastern Ukraine and significant losses.

According to British journalists' assessment, the Kremlin may intend to increase pressure on the Ukrainian population through strikes on infrastructure, if decisive success cannot be achieved on the battlefield.

Так всё-таки есть продвижение российской армии? А нам говорили, что Украина освобождает территории! И что значит "значительные потери"? А у Украины не значительные? Тогда почему продвижение?
