Lukashenka's meeting with St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov took place in Minsk on October 27. Lukashenka proposed setting cooperation between Belarus and St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region as an example.
"Our people are educated, intelligent. I always tell the Russian president that if Belarusians are very similar to anyone, it's to the Leningraders. These are the same people," he said.
He added that "there are no people who suffered more in the last war than Belarusians and Leningraders."
