Belposhta will not accept commercial parcels to the European Union from November 1

From November 1, Belposhta is suspending the acceptance of international postal items with goods intended for European Union countries. The reason is new EU customs requirements.

From November 1, the European Union is introducing customs duties for processing goods imported from third countries as part of distance selling and e-commerce. The new rules apply to all international postal items with goods, regardless of their actual value.

Belposhta explained that they do not have the technical capability to transmit the necessary information about product identifiers to the customs services of EU countries. Therefore, the acceptance of all types of international postal items with goods to European countries is temporarily suspended.

The restriction will not affect parcels with goods sent by individuals to one another, if such items are not related to distance selling or e-commerce. This applies, among other things, to gifts with an actual value not exceeding 45 euros.

Belposhta, jointly with the Universal Postal Union, is working on resolving the problem.
