According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a 50-year-old man lived at the expense of another woman — to her, he introduced himself as a special services officer. He has been detained and authorities are now looking for other potential victims.

In Minsk, a 50-year-old man suspected of fraud has been detained. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, he introduced himself to a Russian woman as the owner of several firms and asked for help with business problems. When it was time to return the money, he began to threaten her with weapons and connections to a criminal group.
As reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the man met a 49-year-old resident of Vologda on social media in December 2024.
Later, the Minsk resident moved in with his new acquaintance, although he was married. He told her about his firms in the Belarusian capital and his financial difficulties. The woman gave him money — approximately 86 thousand Belarusian rubles in equivalent. According to an oral agreement, he was supposed to return them within a year.
However, the man returned to Minsk, ended the romantic relationship, and did not return the money. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, he responded to demands to repay the loan with threats: claiming to possess firearms and to be part of an organized criminal group.
According to the police, the detainee had not been officially employed anywhere for almost 20 years and had no permanent income. It also turned out that he was living at the expense of another woman — to her, he introduced himself as a special services officer.
A criminal case for large-scale fraud has been initiated. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the man faces up to 12 years of imprisonment. The police are looking for other potential victims.
