Verdict handed down to Belarusian bartender who planned warehouse arson in Poland

Belarusian citizen Vital S. received 3 years and 6 months imprisonment for preparing to set fire to a warehouse in the Polish city of Chełm. According to the indictment, he acted on behalf of foreign intelligence, writes Most.

In addition to imprisonment, the court fined the Belarusian 1500 zlotys (about 390 dollars) and banned him from exercising public rights for nine years. Such rights in Poland may include electoral rights, the ability to participate in the administration of justice, and to work in certain positions in state bodies and institutions. The verdict has not yet entered into force.

As previously reported, the man worked as a bartender in a restaurant in Lublin. According to Polish special services, he was recruited and received assignments via Telegram. On their instructions, he reconnoitered a multi-story warehouse complex in Chełm, videotaped the object, and handed over the prepared materials to the client. The Belarusian received cryptocurrency as payment for completing the task.

The investigation claimed that Vital S. was developing a plan to set fire to the warehouse but did not manage to carry it out. Employees of the Polish Internal Security Agency (ABW) detained him on August 13, 2025. He has been in custody since then. On July 27, 2026, the indictment in his case was forwarded to the court.

In addition to the case related to preparing for sabotage or espionage, the man was also accused of possessing narcotic substances.
