You'll never guess which nation's cuisine reminded blogger Leanid Pashkouski of dishes from a Belarusian village
"A Belarusian found himself in the right place," joked the author of the popular YouTube channel "Khachu dadomu" (I Want Home).

Travel blogger Leanid Pashkouski, author of the popular YouTube travel channel "Khachu dadomu", shared his gastronomic discoveries in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, in a new episode.
It was a big surprise for him to find that several traditional Nepali dishes are very similar in taste to Belarusian draniki and vareniki.
"A Belarusian found himself in the right place," Leanid laughed.
Lentil pancakes in Nepal are called bara. This is a popular dish, bought as street food and cooked at home. Interestingly, additions to the pancakes can include pieces of potatoes rolled in spicy spices, as well as so-called soybean popcorn — soy balls in sauce.
"A draniki is a draniki even in Nepal. Crispy on the outside, delicate on the inside. Incredibly delicious, because it's in my DNA. I really missed this," the blogger commented. He noted, however, that instead of soy cutlets, he would gladly have sour cream with the draniki.

As for the traditional Nepali dessert "yomari", it finally plunged the Zhlobin native into nostalgia for his childhood at his grandmother's.
"Guys, this is really a vareniki! With baked cottage cheese. I'm shocked — I don't understand if I'm in Nepal or a Belarusian village. I want to swallow it right away, just like the draniki, because I feel like I'm home again. I didn't expect Nepalis to have so much in common with Belarusians," the video blogger couldn't hide his emotions. "Thank God for bringing me here! There's no limit to my happiness."

The dough for these steamed dumplings is made from rice flour. Inside, they are filled with a milk-based custard cream made from eggs.
By the way, eggs in Nepal long remained a symbol of wealth because they were scarce and very expensive. Nevertheless, to this day, in many families, they are served at the table as a generous treat for guests.
