Russian drone again fell near the very checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Polish border
Russia has once again launched an attack with a jet drone near the Ukrainian-Polish border in the Volyn region. The drone again fell not far from the border with Poland. However, the drone did not directly hit the 'Yahodyn' checkpoint.
Videos have appeared online showing the drone falling in a forest not far from people and border infrastructure.
At 17:58, the Air Force of Ukraine reported a jet drone in the area of the settlement Holovne in Volyn, moving west towards the Polish border. Around 18:00, the Polish Air Force stated that combat aircraft were scrambled in response to a Russian attack in western Ukraine.
The area of the 'Yahodyn' checkpoint is an important railway junction connecting Ukraine with Poland in the direction of Warsaw and Chełm. Recently, this border area has become the site of Russian attacks twice.
The first strike on infrastructure in this area occurred on the morning of September 13. At that time, a Russian 'Shahed' drone hit a gas station near the 'Yahodyn — Dorohusk' checkpoint and struck the 'Kyiv — Warsaw' train as it was undergoing customs control. Former CIA director David Petraeus was on the train. Approximately an hour and a half before the strike, a delegation of foreign leaders had traveled along the same route.
On September 17, Russia again attacked this area with a jet drone. It exploded approximately four kilometers from the Polish border, after which Poland scrambled combat aircraft.
According to data from the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Russia uses transponders on the territory of Belarus for such attacks on western regions. They allegedly amplify the signal for 'Shahed' and 'Gerbera' type drones.
