Details of a large-scale fire in the capital's parking lot became known

On the night of September 27, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported a fire in one of the parking lots in Minsk. Rescuers quickly extinguished the blaze, but three cars were burned, and seven more sustained significant thermal damage.

Initial investigative actions showed that the fire originated from an external source, which led to the arson theory. Later, a 19-year-old Minsk resident was detained in one of the parked cars in the parking lot.

As the investigation revealed, the young man was heavily intoxicated. Returning home from a bar, he first damaged property in a trolleybus. Afterwards, he headed to the parking lot and broke several CCTV cameras on a neighboring building.

In the car where the young man was later detained, he found a faulty trunk lock and a can of gasoline. Investigators claim that the young man doused several cars with the flammable liquid and set them on fire with a lighter.

The preliminary amount of damage caused exceeds 90 thousand rubles.

A criminal case was initiated against the Minsk resident under Part 3 of Article 218 of the Criminal Code — for intentional destruction or damage to property in a publicly dangerous manner, which caused damage on a particularly large scale.
