This became known following the regular meeting of the Supervisory Board of the High-Tech Park, which took place on September 28, writes Office Life.
As Prime Minister Alexander Turchin clarified, the main topic of the meeting was the start of operations and registration of the first crypto banks in the country's history. According to him, active legislative work had been carried out for more than six months. As a result, two crypto banks were registered at once.
Head of the High-Tech Park Hanna Riabava noted that such companies first become residents of the HTP, and then they undergo appropriate accreditation with the National Bank.
In mid-September, it became known that the first crypto bank might appear in Belarus this autumn. This was stated by Sergey Cherechen, co-founder of WhiteBird, who was one of the presidential candidates in 2020.
At that time, he confirmed that his company plans to be the first to launch a crypto bank in Belarus.
WhiteBird sent a letter to the National Bank and the High-Tech Park on January 19, stating its readiness to participate in projects for the creation of crypto banks in Belarus. However, according to him, at least seven other teams also have such plans.
