On September 23, Russian journalist, music critic, and TV presenter Sergey Sosedov died at the age of 58. His death was reported by Russian media, citing propagandist Vadim Tokmenyov.
According to these reports, the cause of death was an accident. During a tour in Neryungri, Yakutia, Sosedov fell down stairs. As a result of the injury, he developed cerebral edema.
Sergey Sosedov gained popularity after participating in the TV program "Akuly Pera" (Sharks of the Pen). He was also a jury member for the music projects "X-Factor" and "Superstar! Return", and hosted the talk show "Za Granyu" (Beyond the Edge) on the NTV channel.
Like many other Russian public figures from the show business sphere, Sergey Sosedov was a supporter of Vladimir Putin and his imperial policy. After the annexation of Crimea, he spoke with pro-government rhetoric, made Ukrainophobic statements, and spoke negatively about Russians who emigrated from the country after the start of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.
However, in the last years of his life, Sosedov disagreed with Lukashenka's regime. Previously, he had visited the "Slavic Bazaar" in Vitebsk about 20 times, but in 2021 he was banned from entering Belarus. The authorities did not explain the reason. Sosedov himself attributed it to the political situation and his refusal to work on the Belarusian version of X-Factor.
After the ban, Sosedov stated that he would no longer come to Belarus as long as the current government was in power. He also said that he felt sorry for Belarus and Belarusians, whom he called wonderful, pure, naive, and very trusting people who had become victims of harsh tyranny.
