Development of the tram network in Minsk is not expected in the near future. This was stated by Konstantin Gololobov, CEO of "Minsktrans", on "Radio Minsk".

According to him, the capital is primarily focusing on the development of the subway system, which he called the most comfortable, fast, and convenient for passengers. Therefore, priority will be given specifically to the subway. However, the authorities do not intend to completely abandon tram transport.
Gololobov noted that there are areas in Minsk served exclusively by trams, specifically Yakub Kolas Street and Lagoysk Trakt. In his opinion, passengers value trams for their speed, especially on high-speed routes. Therefore, maintaining the tram network in its current form will be necessary to ensure transportation services.
The city authorities' plans include updating the tram rolling stock and repairing the existing infrastructure. This should make trams quieter, smoother, and faster.
