"It will no longer be that only the country under attack suffers." Zelenskyy responded to Trump's call to end the war
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to a post on social network X by US President Donald Trump, in which Trump stated Russia's problems due to Ukrainian strikes on the production of diesel fuel necessary for the whole world and called for an end to the war.
"Russia, unfortunately, has lost control of its diesel industry through its war with Ukraine. A large number of their diesel refineries have been blown up and, at least temporarily, put out of action. This senseless and endless war with Ukraine must be stopped. The entire world is suffering, with 25,000 people dying every month, mostly soldiers. What a disgrace!" Donald Trump wrote.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in his response, agreed that the war is senseless and should be stopped, but drew attention to important nuances of the problem:
"Indeed, this Russian war is senseless and must be stopped. Since the first year of the full-scale invasion, its consequences have been far-reaching: the loss of many lives, the destruction of cities and villages, food security, energy challenges, extraordinary rates of technological development, including autonomous drones, and rapid improvements in strike capabilities never before seen. Every new week of this war, let alone every new year, adds more and more problems.
From the very first minute, Ukraine has sought peace. We have already made dozens of diplomatic proposals on how to end this war with dignity, guarantee security, and prevent new Russian invasions. Right now, there is a dialogue with President Trump and America. There are also ideas on the table to bring peace closer, starting with strong de-escalation steps.
Ukraine's energy sector, critical infrastructure, and our food exports must cease to be targets for Russia, and this will lead to corresponding de-escalation steps on our part.
Solutions are possible. We are ready to work on this and will discuss it with our partners on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. I thank everyone who helps!
