CIA warned European governments about a possible Russian drone attack on Spain, France or Italy
Drones could be launched from the sea, hidden in containers on a vessel.

American intelligence agencies have gathered information that Russia is preparing a possible drone attack on one of the Mediterranean countries — Spain, France, or Italy — and has provided it to several European governments. This is reported by the Spanish newspaper El Mundo, citing anonymous sources.
A source of the publication, close to the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense, stated that the drones could be launched from the sea, hidden in containers on a vessel.
According to the newspaper, Lithuanian authorities are also aware of the type of device — a "Gerbera" weighing up to 18 kilograms with a declared flight range of up to 600 kilometers. One merchant vessel can carry several such drones.
Lithuania and other countries, as the newspaper claims, received this information shortly after CIA Director John Ratcliffe's trip to Moscow on August 25.
Ratcliffe arrived on an American military plane that made a stop in Riga. Diplomatic sources in one of the Baltic countries told the publication that they knew about the trip in advance and later received information about its content.
The governments of Spain, France, and Italy also received information that Russia is preparing a possible drone operation against one of these countries, sources familiar with the warning told the newspaper.
There have been no official comments regarding the CIA's message yet.
