Egypt visa to become more expensive for Belarusians again

Starting from January 1, 2027, the cost of single-entry visas to Egypt will increase for citizens of all foreign countries, including Belarus. This decision was made by the Egyptian authorities.

According to an official circular from the Egyptian Chamber of Tourism Companies and Travel Agencies, the basic cost of a standard tourist visa will increase from 30 to 33 US dollars.

However, the final amount may be higher depending on the method of document processing and the airport of arrival. A service fee of $6 may be added to the basic tariff for service, technical processing, and bank commissions.

Currently, such an additional fee is charged only at Cairo International Airport when applying for a digital visa with a QR code. In this case, the total cost is $36, and from January 1, 2027, it will increase to $39.

It is not yet known whether this fee will be automatically charged when applying for paper visa stamps at the resort airports of Hurghada, El Alamein, and Alexandria. Representatives of the tourism industry are awaiting further clarifications from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt.

This will be the second increase in the cost of an Egyptian visa recently. From March 1, 2026, the entry fee was increased from $25 to $30. Thus, in a short period, the cost of entry for foreign citizens has increased by almost one-third.

For Belarusian tourists purchasing package tours, the control procedure will not change. Organizational matters and visa payments are usually coordinated by the host party's representatives. Independent travelers are advised to factor in the new fees into their travel budget in advance.

At the same time, for some tourists, the possibility of free entry under the "Sinai Only" rule remains. Citizens of Belarus do not need to purchase a standard visa for $33 if they arrive by direct flight at Sharm El Sheikh International Airport, plan to stay in Egypt for no more than 15 days, and do not intend to leave the administrative boundaries of the South Sinai resort area. In such a case, a special stamp is affixed to the passport free of charge.

However, this stamp does not permit travel outside the region. If a tourist plans to visit Cairo and its pyramids, Luxor, or Hurghada, they must purchase a full Egyptian visa according to the updated tariff directly in the arrival zone.
