Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's press service published her photo in New York, where the democratic leader arrived to participate in the work of the UN General Assembly. She is walking down a city street with a portrait of a Belarusian political prisoner on her folder.
The tradition of appearing at important international events with portraits of Belarusian political prisoners was established by Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya long ago. Initially, her folder bore a portrait of her husband Siarhei Tsikhanouski, but after his release in June 2025, the tradition continued, but the portraits began to change.
This time, Tsikhanouskaya's folder features a portrait of blogger Uladzimir Tsyhanovich, known as the author of the YouTube channel MozgON. He has been behind bars since June 9, 2020, and was sentenced to as many as 16 years of imprisonment.
From September 21-25, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya will participate in the 81st UN General Assembly. During these days, world leaders, ministers, and diplomats from all over the world will gather in one place. Tsikhanouskaya will also take part in meetings and events on the sidelines of the Assembly.
