Rubio spoke about the prospects for an energy truce between Ukraine and Russia

According to Rubio, the recent rise in oil and fuel prices was mainly due to events in the Black Sea and the Russian-Ukrainian war, and not to the situation around Iran.

The American Secretary of State noted that Ukraine explains its strikes by the need to respond to Russian missile attacks, which kill civilians. However, such actions have consequences. Rubio stated that over recent months, US-affiliated vessels carrying American oil have become targets of Ukrainian attacks, likely unintentionally. According to him, this problem needs to be resolved.

Rubio emphasized that Trump wants to stop the war and is ready to do everything possible to achieve this goal. He admitted that it is a complex process but expressed hope for a positive outcome. According to the Secretary of State, Russia is suffering heavy losses, but Ukraine also faces severe consequences of the war, which is why the USA wants to help end it.

Rubio explained that an energy truce means an end to strikes on energy infrastructure. Specifically, neither Ukrainian energy facilities nor Russian energy supply facilities should be attacked.

The US considers such an agreement a good idea, is ready to propose it to the parties, and try to reach an agreement. Marco Rubio reported that this issue has already been discussed with several countries. However, as with a general cessation of war, an energy truce requires the consent of both states, which creates the main difficulty.

Touching on the situation in the Middle East, Rubio stated that it has improved. According to him, the Strait of Hormuz has been cleared of mines, and almost as much oil is now entering the world market as before the start of the American operation against Iran. He added that supply volumes will increase.

At the same time, according to Rubio, Iran cannot export oil due to the American blockade. He says that the world market is receiving more oil, and Iran is not benefiting from it. In addition, pressure on the Iranian economy is intensifying due to sanctions, which, as the US Secretary of State stated, are causing significant damage to it. Rubio predicts that in the coming weeks, Iran's situation will worsen: global oil supplies will grow, while Iran will not be able to sell its oil and will feel the consequences of sanctions.
