He wanted to kill or incapacitate the captain and fly the plane alone

During interrogation, it became known that co-pilot Hamam al-Hamami planned to fly to Tel Aviv and direct the airliner into the airport terminal to cause a mass catastrophe. This was reported by Israel's Channel 12 television.
Hamam al-Hamami is 29 years old and is a citizen of Oman.
He began cooperating with the investigation and revealed that he intended to crash the plane in Israel. That's why he initiated the hijacking in the air over Jordan, already near the border.
According to him, he wanted to kill or incapacitate the captain and fly the plane alone. Afterwards, he would begin landing "as usual," and when it was no longer possible to intercept the plane, he would direct it into the Ben Gurion Airport terminal.
It is known that he used an emergency axe to attack his colleague. However, the actions of the commander and passengers helped to neutralize him and safely land the plane.
