Four repeaters for Russian drones discovered on the territory of Belarus
Over the past and current week, four repeaters providing communication and control for jet uncrewed aerial vehicles were discovered on the territory of Belarus in the areas of the settlements of Khoiniki, Dzyarbinka and Makhnavichy of Mazyr district, and Buda-Safiyewka of Lelchytsy district, reports the Ukrainian monitoring channel "eRadar".
The deployed network of repeaters significantly increased the flight range of the drones and allowed them to reach territories near the Polish border.
According to available information, it was thanks to these repeaters that operators could control drones in real-time. This reportedly allowed for attacks on a train and gas stations near the Polish border.
Attention is also drawn to the distance from one of the discovered repeaters: from the last one recorded in the Buda-Safiyewka area to the center of Volyn region, Lutsk, is just over 250 kilometers.
The issue of Belarusian repeaters was previously raised by Ukrainian authorities. On June 21, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that his public demand to Minsk to dismantle the equipment used by Russian military for attacks on Ukraine was the final stage. Prior to this, according to him, Kyiv had repeatedly conveyed information to Alyaksandr Lukashenka through intelligence channels about the need to stop technical support for this system.
On June 24, Zelenskyy reported that the repeaters in Belarus, used to adjust Russian army strikes on Ukraine, were no longer working.
However, on June 30, former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that these repeaters on the territory of Belarus had not been dismantled. Recently, representatives of various Ukrainian services have been stating that these repeaters have become active again and, among other things, are helping Russian drones attack the western regions of Ukraine.
