25 political prisoners, freed on September 16 from Belarusian prisons and deported to Lithuania, were warmly greeted by Belarusians from Vilnius and beyond.
Pavel Belaus spent a long time in the KGB pre-trial detention center. He was allowed to talk to his wife at the border.
Media manager Andrey Aliaksandrau can speak freely with loved ones for the first time. He has lost a lot of weight but is radiant with happiness.
"Hello everyone!" Andrey Aliaksandrau and Iryna Zlobina smiled as they greeted everyone who came to meet the political prisoners in Vilnius.
"I left 30 kilograms of my weight in my homeland. My mood is good. I am very glad that these almost six years are over. I very much hope that these processes [of liberation] will continue," said Andrey Aliaksandrau.
Former investigator, IT specialist Yauhen Yushkevich could not hold back tears. Dozens of people are meeting the hero-political prisoners in Vilnius.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya also came to Vilnius to meet the political prisoners.
Advisor to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, Dzianis Kuchynski, commented on today's release:
"These negotiations are always difficult and challenging. The lists are discussed each time, and each time the outcome can be different. But today we can rejoice for the 25 who have been freed."
