"And all the red lights that exist lit up." Pachobut told how he was checked at the border when entering Belarus
The ex-political prisoner spoke about an interesting incident when entering Belarus a week ago. Andrzej Poczobut shared the story with the YouTube project Kanał Zero.
"I handed them my passport for inspection. When he [the border guard] entered the data into the database, all the red lights they have lit up. A minute later, a border service captain approached and said that I needed to go with him for a conversation and absolutely take my phone with me. I said: 'Yes, I have it with me, but there's one problem — it's locked, and I don't know how to unlock it'."
So, we arrived, and the first question there was: when will I go back? I said that this was a strange question, because I was just entering and actually I had come to stay for good. Well, then the phone rang — the mobile phone of one of these "gloomy comrades". He went out, returned after some time, then went out again, then again.
Then three people came: two in border service uniforms, and one in civilian clothes:
"I understand that he was the one representing some special service, but I don't know which one exactly. Perhaps it was the KGB. I suppose it was the KGB, but I don't know for sure. And their conversation with me didn't really take off."
According to him, the conversation in a separate room lasted about ten minutes, then I was told that I could leave.
Andrzej Poczobut arrived in Grodno from Poland on September 8, where he had lived since the end of April after being released from the penal colony. In Belarus, the journalist met with Belarusian Poles, visited places significant for Polish and common Belarusian-Polish history. On September 15, he returned to Poland.
