Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Fedorov launches "Army of Robots". What is known
Reload a machine gun, replace a battery, install a sensor, and later — independently attack the enemy. Former Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov announced a new defense project, "Army of Robots". The concept involves working on humanoid-like robots that will be able to perform simple tasks on the front lines instead of military personnel.

Fedorov presented the new project on September 26 at the IT Arena 2026 technological conference in Lviv. Its main part should be humanoid robots adapted to work on the battlefield.
Initially, they plan to entrust them with relatively simple but dangerous tasks for humans.
"There will be humanoid robots that will perform simple tasks: reloading a machine gun, replacing a battery, installing a sensor. This is what a robot can be quickly taught, quickly deployed on the battlefield, and what it will be able to do," Fedorov stated.

Such machines should operate where even a brief appearance of a soldier poses a threat to his life: on advanced positions, under enemy drone surveillance, and near mined areas.
First enemy destruction — in six months
The creators of the "Army of Robots" have set two specific initial goals.
The first is to ensure that a humanoid robot destroys a Russian soldier on the battlefield within six months of the program's start.
The second is to conduct the first joint operation of robots and drones within a year. They should exchange information and coordinate their actions using algorithms without constant operator commands.
The idea is not to create a single "robot soldier," but to build an entire technological system. In it, humanoid machines should interact with aerial drones, ground robotic systems, and other types of unmanned weaponry.

For example, an aerial drone will be able to detect a target or danger, transmit coordinates to a ground complex, and a robot — deliver equipment, replace a battery, install a sensor, or perform a combat mission.
According to Fedorov's team, such systems can change the very principle of warfare: in the most dangerous areas, people will manage operations remotely, while machines will work directly under fire.
The project is currently at an early stage. Fedorov did not show a finished humanoid robot to the public and did not name the program's cost.
His team is now looking for engineers, developers, artificial intelligence specialists, and robotic systems specialists in Ukraine and Western countries. Negotiations with investors are also underway simultaneously.
In addition to humanoid machines, the project plans to develop cheap interceptor missiles and means of destruction using artificial intelligence.
Mykhailo Fedorov headed the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine from January to July 2026. Prior to that, since 2019, he was the Minister of Digital Transformation and was involved in the development of state electronic services, the "Army of Drones," and Ukrainian defense technologies. He now continues to work in this area outside state structures.
