Ksenia Bjørndalen, the 9-year-old daughter of Olympic biathlon champions Darya Domracheva and Ole Einar Bjørndalen, became the winner of the first stage of the capital's Roller Ski and Cross Cup. The competitions took place on the "Viasnyanka" roller ski track in Minsk on Tuesday, writes Betnews.by
Ksenia Bjørndalen represented the Central District of Minsk and showed the best result among girls born in 2016-2017.
She covered a distance of 1.4 km in freestyle in 3 minutes 16.9 seconds. A total of 24 athletes started in this age category, but two did not finish.
The top three also included Maryana Matsialionak, who lost to Domracheva Jr. by 13.5 seconds, and Evelina Shapira, who lagged behind the leader by 28.8 seconds.
The Capital Cup will continue on September 18 with an individual race in classic style. Moreover, the starting protocol for the second stage will be formed based on the results of the first stage.
