Statkevich: If you're given an "officer's word," you're guaranteed to be deceived

Hundreds of political prisoners are now free, adapting to new conditions and often sharing their experiences in detention. Some even consider themselves specialists in the moods within "law enforcement" structures. For example, which ones "root" for what, which ones behave well, and which ones badly.

Everyone who has gone through the regime's suppression machine must understand that its cogs are neither good nor bad towards those who fall into it.

They are simply cogs, parts of this machine, and we are just work for them. Like a piece of wood for a mechanical saw at a sawmill. Their differing attitudes towards us are simply due to their different functions within this suppression machine.

Although minor personal differences are also possible, they usually remain within a range acceptable for the machine's functioning. It cannot be otherwise now, because the degree of true legality of the ruling regime is already clear even to its most short-sighted servants. That is, they all understand whom they serve. But they serve. Therefore, in interactions with these "cogs," never believe any of their words or promises, because if you are on the other side, you always have opposing goals with them.

Be aware that lying to you among them is not considered shameful – it's just a common "professional trick" there. Therefore, throughout the entire system, they lie as they breathe.

And if, for example, they give you an "officer's word," you can be sure that you will be guaranteed to be deceived. Only an internally free person can promise something, while a "cog" turns only in the directed path and therefore has no moral right to even promise anything. Debating with them, trying to convince them of something – that's a waste of time.

The situation will change, and they themselves will turn to us and tell us that they have long understood everything and were just waiting for the right moment.

Now, regarding bad and good "law enforcement" structures. They are all the same now, simply their methods differ. For example, "bad" operatives in the colony work in close contact with "good" KGB officers.

By the way, beware of any informal contacts with the latter, which was actively used before 2020.

Because then a naive civic activist might not even realize that an intelligent major, who invited him for coffee in a cozy cafe and listened so carefully to his reflections on the usefulness of his civic activities for the state, was actually already formulating a report in his head for his superiors based on these reflections, beginning with the words: «По сообщению моего информатора N…».

No one canceled the trivial reporting. And then, finding himself in the colony, neither the activist himself nor his surroundings can understand why the operatives are so hard on him. And they simply received a dossier from the KGB on this activist, stating that he is an informer. And they are angry that he doesn't want to continue his informing for them.

Times are different now, and they won't waste time on coffee. Now they have other methods. And all political "crimes" now mainly occur online, where they are also "exposed."

But this rule – not to associate with "comrades" or with interlocutors supposedly from "services" of other countries – also applies to the internet.

If necessary, there is a possibility of contacts within the framework of legal procedural norms.

For example, I refuse any kind of even formal communication with the "services" of the local regime: giving testimonies, signing legal documents, familiarizing myself with the "case," participating in "court" proceedings — and I consider such behavior not only moral but also rational. However, this is my personal approach, and I dare not recommend it to others.

After all, besides the well-known: "Don't believe, don't fear, don't ask," nothing better has been invented for dealing with these "cogs."
