Film by Belarusian Yauhen Lytkin Wins Special Jury Prize at Film Festival in Jordan
The short psychological drama "The Final Test" by Belarusian independent director Yauhen Lytkin received the Special Jury Prize at the 11th Jordanian International Film Festival in Amman. The award was announced on September 24 during the festival's closing ceremony in the main hall of the Royal Cultural Center of Jordan, writes Reform.news.
This year, the organizers received 2099 applications from various countries worldwide. After selection, only eight films made it to the international competition, including the Belarusian short film, which was created last year by Belarusian filmmakers in exile.
Lytkin called the award an important recognition of the work of the entire team — the director, actors, and film crew — and thanked the jury and the festival organizers.
"The Final Test" tells the story of a situation in an auditorium where a teacher announces the start of a test with no correct answers. Yet, all participants are required to achieve a perfect score. The film touches upon themes of system pressure, moral choice, the absurdity of strict requirements, and human confrontation with impossible conditions.
The main roles in the film were performed by Kupala Theatre actors Aleh Harbuz and Sviatlana Zeliankouskaya. Belarusian musician and bagpiper Aliaksei Burnasenka also starred in the film. Dzianis Ivanou served as producer, Valik as cinematographer, and Mikhail Vasilevich handled the editing. The screenplay was written by Yauhen Lytkin himself, also known for the BFN project.
The Jordanian International Film Festival is considered the country's main international film platform. It takes place in Amman and is focused on supporting independent filmmakers, developing Arab and world cinema, and fostering cultural exchange between countries.
Yauhen Lytkin works as a director, producer, and music video maker. He is involved in feature and documentary films, and also creates music videos for Belarusian and foreign artists. "The Final Test" became another one of his auteur projects presented at the international level.
