Pedestrian bridge in Gomel to be temporarily closed

The pedestrian bridge over the Swan Pond in the Gomel Palace and Park Ensemble will be temporarily closed to visitors due to repairs.

Preparatory work will begin on September 28: materials will be delivered to the site, fences and warning signs will be installed. The bridge itself will be closed from September 30.

During the repair period, the closed section can be bypassed via Proletarskaya Street, as well as through Zamkovy Spusk and the embankment.

During the work, specialists will repair the bridge's posts and downspouts, the handrail fencing, and clean the structures of old paint. The outermost concrete supports will be replaced, the others reinforced, and the bridge deck will be renewed. The new covering will be made of hardwood. The external appearance of the bridge is planned to be preserved.

The repairs will be carried out with the participation of archaeologists, as new historical finds may be discovered during the work at this location, which will enrich the archive of the palace and park ensemble.

All work is planned to be completed by December 30.
