The intellectual game "Brain-ring" has returned to Belarusian screens
The first program aired on ONT last Sunday.
The show, just like 10 years ago, is hosted by Leanid Kupryda. This season, the ONT Youth Cup will be contested.
The first game featured teams from: Salihorsk, Gomel State University, Minsk State Palace of Children and Youth, and the agro-ecotourism complex "Bely Los" (White Elk) from Lahoysk.
The first episode of "Brain-ring" aired on May 18, 1990, on the First Program of Central Television of the USSR. The idea of the intellectual game — an analogue to "What? Where? When?", but with two teams of six experts each — originated with the author of "What? Where? When?", Vladimir Voroshilov.
The author and director was Barys Kruk, who now hosts the Moscow "What? Where? When?", while Vladimir Voroshilov conducted the first cycle of seven broadcasts. Later, Andrey Kazlov hosted the show in Moscow.
Two teams of six people participate in the game. Initially, one minute — 60 seconds — was given for discussing a question. Later, this time was reduced to 20 seconds.
But very often the answer is given instantly; the main thing is to be the first to press the button.
Like "What? Where? When?", "Brain-ring" was played not only on television but also as a sports variant, i.e., in intellectual clubs in various countries and cities, including Belarus. In Minsk, for example, it has been played since the mid-1990s.
On Belarusian television, "Brain-ring" first aired in 2010. It was broadcast on ONT and hosted by Leanid Kupryda.
