Zelensky: Russia struck Kyiv at the moment I was discussing 'hellish sanctions' in Washington
The President of Ukraine commented on Russia's night strike on Kyiv in his Telegram channel.
«Today, the Russians launched a ballistic missile strike on Kyiv precisely when, at a meeting with congressmen, we were discussing the Lindsey Graham Act and the need to strengthen sanctions. Russia will not end this war without pressure. While people were sleeping, there were flashes from explosions in the sky. Again, the main target of their strike is Kyiv and civilian infrastructure: residential buildings, a maternity hospital, energy, and logistics,» Volodymyr Zelensky wrote.
He reported two fatalities, as well as injured individuals, and expressed condolences to the families.
«Every such attack occurs because the pressure on the aggressor has not become total, and Russia believes it can continue to rely on ballistic terror. Now, the United States has the opportunity to react strongly. Ballistic missile interceptors are needed to protect lives. It is necessary to implement sanctions against Russia and those who help it profit,» the President of Ukraine added.
