Donald Tusk does not rule out direct Russian strikes on Polish territory in the near future

As reported by the publication "Ukrainska Pravda" with reference to the radio station RMF24, on the evening of September 13, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk convened an emergency meeting at the Government Security Center. Together with the Ministers of Internal Affairs and Defense, as well as the command of special services, the head of government discussed the consequences of the morning Russian attack, which took place in close proximity to Polish territory.

Tusk openly admitted that the escalation of Russian actions is becoming an obvious fact, and its geography is getting closer to the state border. The head of the Polish cabinet called attempts to paralyze the work of border crossings not the first such case, warning of difficult months ahead.

"We must realize that from today, we will operate in a much strengthened mode. Because we know and can expect that the coming weeks and months will be a period of very intense actions on the part of Russia. Unfortunately, we cannot rule out that the escalation will also affect our territory," the Prime Minister clearly outlined the prospect.

A separate concern for Warsaw is the change in Russia's arsenal. According to Tusk, the latest nighttime strikes indicate Russia's readiness to use more dangerous equipment — in particular, jet drones. Their range and accuracy create a new threat even for Ukraine, which, despite years of air defense experience, is not capable of 100% intercepting such targets.

In this regard, the Polish Prime Minister demanded a precise report on the readiness of their own services for possible attempts to disorganize the work of the Polish railways or industrial enterprises.

Deputy Minister of Defense Cezary Tomczyk clarified that during Sunday's attack on the western part of Ukraine alone, military personnel recorded thirteen strikes. Jacek Horyszewski, a representative of the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces, confirmed the reality of the threat to his country last night. At the same time, according to statements by the head of the defense ministry Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, no direct violation of airspace has occurred yet.

Andriy Demchenko, a representative of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, denied information about a direct hit on the infrastructure of the Yahodyn checkpoint. However, as we wrote earlier, "Ukrzaliznytsia" recorded a strike on a passenger train locomotive in this area near the border. It was later clarified that a diplomatic flight might have been the target of the attack.
