Political prisoner Iryna Takarchuk, mother of blogger Volha Takarchuk, released

The 66-year-old woman fully served her three-year term.

Iryna Takarchuk

Iryna Takarchuk was arrested in January 2024 after a mass raid by security forces on relatives of political prisoners. She was interrogated by the KGB about "E-dastauka" (E-delivery service). Dozens of women were seized at the same time.

Iryna was accused of "facilitating extremist activity." In August 2024, Tatsiana Falkouskaya of the Minsk City Court sentenced the woman to 3 years in a penal colony.

The elder Takarchuk fully served her term.
