BSUIR student Yegor Klyapatsky created a robot-spider that can be used for search and rescue operations. The robot has a night vision function and is capable of operating in difficult conditions, BelTA reports .
For the young inventor, this is not the first robot he has designed and brought to life. Already in his school years, Yegor conceived and built the humanoid robot Tyrone. It was planned to be used as a personal voice assistant. The robot was orange in color and stood 1.75 meters tall.
Now, according to Klyapatsky's concept, Tyrone can perform various functions – for example, work as a teacher, security guard, or museum employee. He is equipped with a video camera, speaker, and microphone for communication with people.
Later, the inventor had the idea to create a smaller robot, but with broader capabilities. This is how his second startup project emerged – the Onyx spider robot, approximately 27 by 40 centimeters in size.
Onyx can move independently and navigate in space thanks to various sensors. It also has two cameras with night vision function.
The robot can be used for searching for people under rubble, as well as at chemical enterprises. It is capable of detecting and analyzing pollution levels and warning operators about possible leaks of dangerous substances.
For communication, the autonomous spider robot only needs Wi-Fi. The inventor does not rule out that in the future, Onyx may begin to be produced in series and supplied to enterprises in Belarus and other CIS countries. According to him, potentially interested enterprises already exist.
