The political prisoner released today, former general director of "Tut Bay Media" Liudmila Chekina, spoke about her first feelings after her release, writes "Viasna".
"I still haven't believed in the reality of what's happening. It's so emotionally charged – even the sky is different. I was riding in the bus and looking at the beautiful fields – still Belarusian, looking at the oaks, birds, and sky."
Liudmila noted that now the most important thing for her is for the remaining political prisoners to be released as soon as possible.
"It's very difficult to be in captivity. It's like being buried alive. Our parents died, and we couldn't attend the funerals; our children grew up without us. And now there are girls there who have small children, who have elderly parents who require care."
She also thanked the people participating in negotiations for the release of political prisoners, and expressed hope for the continuation of this process.
