Director to be prosecuted for the death of an 18-year-old worker at a Mogilev amusement ride
The Investigative Committee has concluded its investigation into the tragedy that occurred on May 1st at an amusement park in Mogilev. A 25-year-old park manager was charged with the death of an 18-year-old intern who worked on the 'Salto' ride.
During his work, the boy was hit by the carousel. He sustained a severe head injury and died on the spot.
According to the Investigative Committee, the deceased worked without an employment or civil contract. He also did not undergo a medical examination, industrial safety instruction, training, or internship.
The investigation believes that these violations were one of the causes of the accident. After another ride cycle, the intern was releasing passengers, but, contrary to safety requirements, did not secure the carousel. As a result, the balancer began to move and hit the boy on the head.
The investigation holds the park manager responsible for the tragedy. According to the Investigative Committee, she independently allowed the 18-year-old boy to work, even though he had not completed the necessary procedures beforehand.
The woman has been charged under Part 2 of Article 306 of the Criminal Code — violation by an official responsible for observing safety rules and labor protection, which by negligence resulted in the death of a person. Currently, the accused is under a travel ban.
