In Kyrgyzstan, the body of the Belarusian climber was never found, searches will no longer continue
Searches for Belarusian Nikolai Sviridov on Kurumdy Peak have ended.
«On September 15, the search for Nikolai Sviridov on Kurumdy Peak was completed. We were unable to find Nikolai. For four days, a team of drone operators from Evernest company worked on the mountain together with climber Andrei Yerokhin. The ridge, slopes, and couloirs were surveyed according to the task compiled after the second stage. Two items were found on the slope: a sneaker and a tent,» — reports the website created to inform about the search for Belarusian climbers missing in Kyrgyzstan.
It is likely that Nikolai is buried under avalanche debris or is in crevices lower down the slope. Neither is visible from the air.
«Snowfalls have begun in the area. Snow accumulates on the slopes and no longer melts. Further examination of the slopes is impossible: everything we were looking for is now under snow. Therefore, operations have been stopped. The group is leaving the mountain. We do not plan to resume searches. Nikolai remains on Kurumdy,» — state his colleagues.
In early August, after ascending Kurumdy Peak in Kyrgyzstan, a group of three climbers went missing. Among them were two Belarusians: 43-year-old Maksim Palyanski and 60-year-old Nikolai Sviridov, as well as 37-year-old Sergei Rubtsov from Lithuania. Later, during the search operation, the bodies of Palyanski and Rubtsov were found.
