The autumn wave of mushrooms has covered Belarus, but the price of forest gifts at markets bites: young porcini mushrooms are asked for up to 100 BYN per kilogram. Where to buy a bucket of chanterelles for 15 BYN and how to hire a "personal mushroom picker" to gather the harvest, the "Minsk-News" agency found out .
The first autumn wave of mushrooms has started in Belarus: social networks and thematic channels in messengers are full of generous gifts of nature. However, while some Belarusians boast about their finds, others only sigh or go for chanterelles and porcini mushrooms to the nearest market.
Prices there, of course, cannot be called democratic. For example, last weekend at Komarovsky Market, chanterelles were sold at a price of 12 to 15 BYN per kilogram, strong large porcini mushrooms — for 50 BYN, and young ones — even for 100 BYN per kilogram.
However, a buyer was found even for such an expensive product. Seller Alexander honestly shared on TikTok that he managed to earn about 700 BYN from mushrooms in a day. The man spent 52 BYN on fuel, and paid another 46 BYN for laboratory analysis of the mushrooms and a spot at the market. After selling all the harvest collected in the forest, he received 800 BYN.
For those who are not ready to pay more than two basic units for a kilogram of porcini mushrooms, there is another option — sometimes even with delivery. Financially, it might even turn out to be more profitable than collecting mushrooms in the forest yourself: because even autumn abundance doesn't guarantee full buckets and baskets for quiet hunting enthusiasts, and you'll have to spend money on fuel anyway.
We are talking about a popular classifieds platform where successful mushroom pickers offer gifts of the forest, and in a wide assortment: here you can find bay boletes, honey mushrooms, and slippery jacks. For instance, fresh chanterelles can be bought at a price starting from 3 BYN per liter.
"Fresh chanterelles, price for a five-liter bucket (1.3 kg) is 15 BYN. We are located in ag. Ozyartso, 2.5 km beyond the Minsk Ring Road. Delivery is possible in Malinovka," — states one of the ads.
For a similar price — 50 BYN — one could also get 12 liters of selected honey mushrooms, offered by a resident of the Moskovsky district.
Fragrant, strong porcini mushrooms are offered on the platform for 40-45 BYN per kg, bay boletes — from 25, "royal" saffron milk caps — from 8 BYN per liter.
The most experienced (and confident) mushroom pickers offer custom harvesting to potential buyers. For example, 5 liters of "kurachki" (marsh boletes) will cost the buyer 25 BYN.
"I will collect mushrooms to order from an ecologically clean forest, a mix: porcini — 30%, red-capped scaber stalks — 30%, the rest — birch boletes and chanterelles. Other ratios are possible. Zialiony Luh, Uruchcha metro station, delivery possible by arrangement," — offers a resident from the Central district.
As proof of his words, the man attached photos of full buckets of mushrooms and trees covered with honey mushrooms.
The same entrepreneurial Minsk resident offers another service for lovers of quiet hunting — driving them around to mushroom spots. However, the price of such an exclusive "excursion" into the forest is not specified.
