Belarusian detained in Sweden — he photographed protected objects. Rockets and ammunition are produced there
A man, about 30 years old, was detained near the entrance to the industrial zone of Karlskoga. His camera and computer equipment were confiscated.
The Belarusian was detained on September 3. Guards noticed a suspicious person and reported him to the police. Nearby was the main entrance to the Björkborn industrial zone, where defense and chemical industry enterprises operate.
The court remanded the Belarusian into custody on suspicion of illegally photographing a protected object.
Among others, Saab Dynamics, Eurenco Bofors, and Nammo Sweden enterprises are located in the Björkborn industrial zone. According to official information about the area, Saab Dynamics develops and manufactures rockets and ammunition there, Nammo is engaged in the production of ammunition and its components, and Eurenco Bofors — gunpowder and explosives.
According to Swedish legislation, buildings, enterprises, and territories important for national security, including defense industry facilities, can be granted the status of a protected object. Violation is punishable by a fine or up to one year in prison.
This is not the first such case in Karlskoga. In June 2024, a Russian citizen was detained near the Saab territory. He was accused of photographing several protected objects in various parts of Sweden — in Stockholm, Sundsvall, and Karlskoga.
